Job Description

DHHS Information Technology Division (ITD) is seeking a skilled Application Systems Python Developer to design, develop, and support data pipelines, dashboards, integrations, and migration processes across enterprise systems within the Office of the NC Chief Medical Examiner. This role plays a key part in moving data between legacy and modern platforms, ensuring data quality, and enabling analytics and automation through Python and Power BI.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain
data migration scripts, ETL pipelines, and automation workflows using Python
• Design, build, and
optimize data models for reporting and analytics
• Create interactive
dashboards, reports, and analytics solutions using Power BI
• Perform data extraction,
transformation, validation, and loading between databases, APIs, and enterprise
systems
• Optimize data processes
for speed, reliability, and scalability
• Work with SQL queries,
stored procedures, and database objects to support migration and reporting
• Integrate data from
multiple sources, including cloud apps, on premises systems, and flat files
• Collaborate with
business teams to define reporting needs and translate them into technical
solutions
• Analyze data quality
issues, reconcile datasets, and implement best practices for data integrity
• Implement automation for
recurring data tasks and reporting workflows
• Maintain documentation
for data processes, source mappings, and migration steps
• Participate in
architecture, design, and planning sessions for data modernization projects
Required Skills &
Experience:
• Strong hands on
experience with Python
• Proficiency with Power
BI
• Experience designing and
executing data migration or data conversion projects
• Strong SQL skills and
experience working with relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle,
MySQL, Ingres)
• Understanding of data
governance, security, and compliance requirements
• Strong troubleshooting
ability and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
* Experience with Java development
• Experience with version control (Git/Subversion) and CI/CD pipelines
• Knowledge of Power BI administration, workspaces, gateways, and deployment strategies

• Experience with large-scale migration or modernization
initiatives

Job Description

DHHS Information Technology Division (ITD) is seeking a versatile Application Systems Java Developer to develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise applications, backend services, automation tools, and legacy system integrations within the Office of the NC Chief Medical Examiner. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, full-stack development capabilities, and an ability to work across modern and legacy technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintainbackend applications and services using Java, Python, and Perl
• Build RESTful APIs, microservices, and integration points with internal and external systems
• Modernize and refactor existing Perl-based or legacy applications into modern architectures
• Create automation scripts, system tools, and scheduled jobs to support IT operations
• Write clean, efficient, and scalable code following best practices and coding standards
• Design and implement SQL queries, stored procedures, and data-processing workflows
• Participate in architecture discussions, technical design sessions, and sprint planning
• Debug and resolvecomplex issues across multiple languages and platforms
• Deploy applications to cloud or on premise environments (Azure, AWS, GCP, Linux/Unix)
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver technical solutions
• Maintain documentation for systems, integrations, and processes

Required Skills &
