Job Description
State Agency: Georgia Dept. of Transportation
While the intent may be a long-term tenure, this position is subject to annual budget restrictions. The initial contract is through the end of this fiscal year and is anticipated to be renewed July 1, 2026.
Job Summary:
Under limited supervision, coordinates, designs, and secures computer databases to store, track, and maintain a large volume of critical business information. Serves as highest advanced-level subject matter expert, providing authoritative guidance for professional staff. May also serve in a lead role.
– Monitoring &
Observability:
– Configure, maintain,
and optimize monitoring solutions using Dynatrace.
– Enable end-to-end
visibility across infrastructure, systems, and applications.
– Develop dashboards,
alerts, and health checks to ensure system health and reliability.
– Monitor service
performance and availability and set alert thresholds to minimize false
positives.
– Infrastructure Systems
Monitoring:
– Monitor Windows/Linux
servers, virtual environments, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
– Support monitoring of
databases, middleware, and network components.
– Collaborate with
infrastructure and cloud teams to identify trends and capacity needs.
– Proactively identify
and resolve issues before they impact production.
– Application Monitoring:
– Use Dynatrace to
monitor application performance and transaction flows.
– Support synthetic
monitoring and real user monitoring.
– Work closely with
application teams to ensure comprehensive monitoring coverage.
– Assist in
troubleshooting performance issues at both the application and system
level.
– Incident Support:
– Participate in incident
response efforts related to performance and availability.
– Provide monitoring
insights during troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
– Identify and close
monitoring gaps.
– Continuous Improvement:
– Enhance monitoring
standards and documentation.
– Recommend improvements
to monitoring configurations and alert strategies.
– Support integration of
monitoring tools with IT Service Management (ITSM) platforms.
Requirements:
– Education: Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
– Experience:
– 5+ years in systems
engineering, infrastructure support, or monitoring roles.
– 5+ years of hands-on
experience with Dynatrace or similar APM tools.
– Technical Skills:
– Knowledge of
Windows/Linux servers, virtualized environments (VMware), and cloud
platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
– Basic networking
understanding (DNS, TCP/IP, load balancing).
– Experience with
scripting or automation tools like PowerShell or Bash (preferred).
– Familiarity with
Kubernetes or container monitoring.
– Experience with ITIL
practices and regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, financial
services).
– Soft Skills:
– Strong troubleshooting
and analytical skills.
– Effective communication
and collaboration across teams.
– Detail-oriented with a
proactive mindset.
Responsibilities and required skills
Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of staff and management (5 Years)
Knowledge of Windows/Linux servers, virtualized environments (VMware), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). (5 Years)
Experience with scripting or automation tools like PowerShell or Bash (preferred). (5 Years)
Basic networking understanding (DNS, TCP/IP, Load balancing). (5 Years)
Experience migrating from Dynatrace Managed to SaaS (5 Years)
Knowledge of recommending baseline monitoring thresholds, KPI;s and SLA's (5 Years)
Familiarity with enterprise log analysis frameworks and tools like Jira or Service Now. (5 Years)
Exposure to AWS Solution Architect Professional Certification (Preferred). (3 Years)
