FL-Department of Environmental Protection-Office of General Counsel-Legal Assistant
Pay Range $20-$30/hr / Vendor Rate: $$26-$39/hr
Dress Code: Appropriate, Semi-Professional Dress Attire
Work Environment: Office
Position Summary:
Client is looking for a paralegal/legal secretary with 3-5 yrs experience who is familiar with the Florida court systems and working with 3-4 attorneys. Must have experience filing documents with the court, contacting judge assistance, manage attorney case files, attorney calendars and knowledge of general court systems. Qualified candidates will be performing basic word processing, using templates to draft correspondence and creating documents.
Contractor Duties
– The legal assistant acts as the
legal secretary for assigned attorneys
– Formatting, finalizing, typing, and
filing documents.
– Preparing letters and legal documents from
drafts.
– Filing pleadings and motions with appropriate tribunals.
– Serving or
arranging service of legal documents, and maintaining attorney case files.
– Prepares subpoenas, discovery requests, schedules hearings,
trials, depositions, and arranges facilities as directed.
– Retaining and scheduling court reporters and obtaining transcripts.
– Performing general secretarial duties such as phone calls and travel
arrangements.
– Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
– Closing
case files, and supporting office management as needed.
Responsibilities and required skills
Ability to speak and understand English ()
Must possess at least a high school diploma ()
Associates of Bachelors degree preferred ()
Must have 3 to 5 yrs experience working as a paralegal or legal secretary (3 Years)
Proficient using Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint (3 Years)
Experience preparing legal documents and subpoenas (3 Years)
Experience preparing discovery requests and scheduling hearings, trials and depositions (3 Years)
Experience formatting, finalizing, typing and filing documents (3 Years)
Experience preparing letters and legal documents from drafts (3 Years)
Experience filing pleadings and motions with appropriate tribunals (3 Years)
Experience managing executive management daily calendars (2 Years)
Experience managing travel arrangements (1 Years)
Experience working in the Florida Courts systems ()
